Show us the money!

Don’t let a limited budget hold you back from hiring a PR agency – it’s still possible to get world-class PR. Here’s how and why.

“We want to make a big splash – but we don’t have a big budget. It would be great if you could start by giving us some ideas." It's something new and emerging brands will often say when they approach PR professionals. Although pitching ideas is a natural part of what agencies do, it is not efficient to ask them to deliver ideas you might not be able to afford. Our advice: If you want results, give the agency information!

1. Communicate your priorities.
What kind of PR are you looking for? Define SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound) and use them when you brief your agency.

2. Reveal your budget.
Even if your budget is small, you should share it with your agency from the get-go. In return, you will receive a tailor-made PR program.

3. Align expectations
Make sure to tell your agency what you think is a success. Not just in terms of PR results but also in terms of day-to-day tasks and communication.
